Lead Garden Crew Volunteer

Purpose:
The purpose of the Lead Garden Crew Volunteer is to maintain the garden in order to provide a restful and serene environment for meditation and contemplation. The garden provides a place for children, families, staff, volunteers and visitors to spend time together.   

Scope:
The Lead Garden Crew Volunteer:

  • Has extensive knowledge and interest in plants and gardening  - eg Plant health, soil, and fertilizers used in landscaping
  • Creating landscaping designs using shrubs and ground covers
  • Lawn installations, disease control
  • Specialty landscaping, including landscape design and principles
  • Works, rain or shine, to develop and maintain the garden to ensure an environment of beauty and serenity
  • Understands the garden is very demanding of both time and energy and is willing to give this service for the enjoyment of others
  • Is a team player with strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the challenges and sensitivity of working in a Health Care setting
  • To work alongside Corporate Groups during Days of Service.

Commitment:

  • Long term commitment required to ensure consistent leadership, and on-going management of seasonal needs for the garden space.
  • Some Saturday’s 10 – 3 pm availability weekly, plus other dates as needed for Special Events.

   Overall:   Manager, Volunteer & Support Services.  
   Day to Day:   Facilities Manager and/or Facilities Coordinator
