Dexter's matching Birthday Gifts in support of Canuck Place
For young Dexter Weiten, who turned eight at the beginning of March, one birthday party was not nearly enough – especially since he had a cause.
In the past Dexter had celebrated his birthday with a big party involving his friends. This year, instead of receiving presents for himself, he decided to raise funds for other children – Canuck Place children.
Dexter held two parties involving 31 friends, the first involving his classmates and the second included his hockey team buddies.
Through his parties Dexter raised $700 for Canuck Place! But that wasn’t the end of his contribution, as his parents matched the funds, bringing the total contribution to $1,400!
For Dexter’s proud parents being able to “teach our kids the gift of giving” and helping the less fortunate has made a huge impact -- “This experience has been extremely rewarding and the idea was well received by all the kids & parents involved.”
Thank you to Dexter, his family & friends for their support of the kids at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
