Variety – The Children's Charity Provides Wonderful Gift of Support
This year Canuck Place Children’s Hospice celebrates its 15th anniversary of providing care and support to children with life threatening illnesses and their families from across BC. Before we were even able to open our doors to our first family, we needed support and funds from the community to make a children’s hospice a reality and Variety was one of the first organizations to come forward and make an investment in Canuck Place. Over the years Variety has helped Canuck Place renovate our medical care floor, given us a Sunshine Coach to transport our kids and most recently has provided funds to support our Grief Counselling and provide therapeutic support for children and families.
"Their generous contributions over the years have greatly enhanced the level and quality of services provided to Canuck Place children and their families,” remarked Filomena Nalewajek, CEO, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. “The support they offer to children’s charities and children in need is highly valued and truly makes a difference in the lives of so many kids.”
“As a founding donor of Canuck Place, Variety – The Children’s Charity is extremely pleased to support Canuck Place with this $100,000 gift for therapeutic counseling and grief support for children and families,” said Barbie Hislop, Executive Director, Variety - The Children's Charity. “At Variety, our mandate is to help children who have special needs, something Canuck Place does every single day. From the first diagnosis, through to end of life, families with children who have life threatening illnesses will receive the counseling and support they need from Canuck Place.”
Variety has made an enormous contribution to the hospice since we first opened our doors and on behalf of our Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and most importantly our children and families, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
