Thanks to the generous support of Gary and Annie Santini and Canuck Place Board Chair, Dr. D. B. Rix the Medication Room received a much needed upgrade and expansion.
"The new medication room has enhanced the capacity of Canuck Place Nurses to meet the increasing acuity of our patients, with more space, each nurse has their own area to prepare medications which promotes patient safety." said Alison Blair, Canuck Place RN. "In addition, medications and supplies are now able to be stored in an easily identifiable way so as to maximize efficiency. And having a window for natural sunlight is a real plus with 12 hour shift-work!"
The renovated space includes four new work stations with computer terminals and improved shelving and lighting for nurses to prepare and store medication and supplies for children staying at the hospice.
