Canuck Place Teen Group
Held over two weekends in May and supported by a social worker and clinical counselor, the ongoing Teen Support Group gave participants the opportunity to share common experiences and feelings, and also explore new things, develop social skills and most importantly have some fun.
Activities and events included a trip to EA Sports, participating in the UBC Rope Course, a performance by a Theatre Improv Group, pizza making and a trip to the beach followed by an evening out on the town.
The teens also hosted an education ‘mingle’ for volunteers where they provided insightful knowledge and first-hand experience on various topics pertinent to them -how to properly load / secure a power wheelchair; managing technology re: internet, PlayStation, and digital cameras; the type of music they enjoy and local tours available.
