A group of 67 Vancouver Island Cowichan Valley businesses, led by Alf Webb and his late business partner Ralph Cleasby, officially announced that the house that they built will support Canuck Place
The net proceeds from the sale of this new house in the Silver Mine Estates located outside of Mill Bay will go to help those children with life-threatening illnesses and their families on the Canuck Place program.
The home, situated on a half-acre lot, was a way for local developers Alf Webb and the late Ralph Cleasby to use their expertise to give back to the community. With the support of local businesses donating supplies and services the house was built over the past year.
“The community support to build this house was exceptional, businesses big and small went the extra mile to make this a reality,” Alf Webb said speaking on behalf of the consortium of businesses that helped to build the house. “We could not have done this without the support of the community”.
Dependent on the final sale price, the house is expected to raise between $100,000 - $115,000 for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
“This home is a shining example of what can happen when a community rallies together in support of a common cause -- their support will help ensure families from across BC, including many from Vancouver Island, receive the vital care they require at no cost to them,” commented Filomena Nalewajek, Chief Executive Officer of Canuck Place, who was on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
“We are very grateful to be chosen as the beneficiary of their hard work and dedication. Thank you”.
