As part of Canuck Place’s annual Summer in the City program, members of our clinical team travelled to the Okanagan, Vancouver Island and various areas of the Lower Mainland to provide recreational opportunities and outings for Canuck Place children and their families.
This year's program included river tubing, mini-golf, go-karts & bumper boats in Penticton, parasailing, paddle boating, and a visit with tractor rides to an orchard in Kelowna.
In Victoria, families participated in visits to the Ocean Discovery Centre, and the Mineral World and Scratch Patch, capped off with a movie night.
The Vancouver area events and activities included a day at the PNE and Playland, a trip to Grouse Mountain, a picnic at Electronic Arts, participating in the YYR Golf for Kids tournament, sailing in English Bay, lantern making and movie nights. View Photos
Now in its 9th year, the Summer in the City program strives to provide a variety of adaptable and accessible activities and attractions to children in their local communities and is a good example of how Canuck Place extends our service offerings and care across the province.
Thank you to our generous Summer in the City sponsors - John Hardie Mitchell Family Foundation, and the Victoria Foundation.
We are also grateful to the various community venues for their support in providing discounted admission passes.
