Canuck Place Family Winter Festival
Two months to the day before the 21st Olympic Winter Games, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice held their own ‘Winter Games’ as part of the annual winter family festival.
Close to 200 children and families took part in activities ranging from cookie decorating to arts & crafts, while enjoying tasty home-made fries, mini-burgers and other yummy treats courtesy of Southside Foods, Windset Farms, Starbucks, and Tim Hortons – thank you!
Canuck Place families showed their Olympic spirit by wearing the iconic red mittens courtesy of HBC, and participating in Winter Game-themed activities such as medal making. The highlight, bringing smiles to young and old alike, was the special appearance by the Olympic mascots: Quatchi, Miga, and Sumi! View Photos
Capping off the afternoon, the jolly old Santa Claus was on hand to give out presents to each child and take photos with families.
Thank you to Yvette Smith and RBC for their toy donations. Thank you also to our team of valued volunteers for their hard work.
We want to especially recognize the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and their team: Carly Thorson, Russ Horner, Kelly Shea, Hurrian Peyman, Heather Fulcher, Katrina Galas & Bet Tuason.
Thank you so much for making this winter festival so special.
