Family Farm Delivers the Taste of BC Summer July 15th
Twin Berry Farms packs flavour, nutrition and social conscience into every blueberry
Vancouver, BC - Summer in BC has a flavour unique to this region: it tastes of taut tartness, sweetness and juicy firmness; it tastes of blue. On July 15th, Twin Berry Farm's blueberry season begins, offering a sumptuous, healthful alternative to store-bought fruit. Owned and operated by identical twins’ Ricki and Newton Sahota, Twin Berry is Vancouver’s only farm offering farm-direct-to-office delivery, within 32 hours.
Grocery store blueberries can sit for six days en route to the shelf. Twin Berry Farms berries make the journey from the bushes of a 163-acre farm to office door within 32 hours. Orders arrive at your workplace in recyclable packaging and each berry itself a deceptively small package of sun-soaked taste.
Why the rush? For the Sahota brothers, freshness is vital. Each berry teems with antioxidant compounds, vitamins, fibre and minerals, leading Health Canada to declare blueberries a “functional food” – one that actively fosters health. Blueberries promote optimal heart, brain, and eye function, improve the skin, and have been shown to help fight cancer, improve urinary tract health, and manage diabetes. Twin Berry Farms' 32 Hour Guarantee ensures that the blueberries in your mouth pack the same natural goodness as the berries on fields.
“Harvesting the riches from the abundant environment we enjoy in Greater Vancouver is a privilege,” says Ricki Sahota, CEO of Twin Berry Farms, “one that I believe comes with a responsibility to help build a stronger, healthier, happier community.” This year, Twin Berry Farms renews its commitment to local charities, and makes giving back more delicious than ever. As part of the farm's GoodBerry Program, up to 15% of all purchases go to Canuck Place, a pioneering hospice for sick children and their families. Says Ricki, “We look forward to working with companies in Metro Vancouver in making the world a better place, one blueberry at a time.”
“We are thrilled and honoured to be the beneficiary of this delicious initiative,” said Filomena Nalewajek, CEO for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. “The GoodBerry Program is a great example of community leadership and giving.”
Summer in BC looks blue – azure skies, shimmering water. But the taste of true BC blue ripens on a field at Twin Berry Farms. On July 15th, the sweetness, the tang, the goodness of blue are just a berry away.
