CIBC PROVIDES MAJOR GIFT TO PROVINCIAL EXTENSION OF
CANUCK PLACE CHILDREN’S HOSPICE

For immediate release

Abbotsford, BC – On April 19, 2012, Jack Glazier, Associate Vice President of CIBC Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, presented Canuck Place Children’s Hospice with a generous donation of $50,000 to be paid over five years as part of the hospice’s provincial extension of programs and services.

“As we work to extend our reach to all children and families in need across British Columbia, we extend our warmest gratitude to our partners at CIBC for their kindness and generosity,” said Filomena Nalewajek, CEO, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. “At Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, our vision is to serve every child in the province who has a life-threatening illness and offer comfort, care and support to each family. CIBC’s incredible donation will most certainly help us make that vision a reality. Thank you!”

“We are committed to working with organizations to support those living with a life-threatening illness, especially children." said Nicole Davis, CIBC’s senior manager of community investment for Western Canada. She credits Canuck Place Children's Hospice for building "a state-of-the-art care facility with a clear vision to be a leader in pediatric palliative care."

Recent studies indicate that Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is only reaching a fraction of the current needs for pediatric palliative care in British Columbia. Forty six percent of families currently served by Canuck Place Children’s Hospice reside in the Fraser Health Region.

Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is building a second facility housed within the “Dave Lede Campus of Care,” located on a two-acre property located in Abbotsford. With 10 beds and 5 family suites, the new 30,000 square foot hospice will double the current capacity of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice to better meet the growing need for pediatric palliative care services across the province.
