Canuck Place has various Recreational Outings and Camps available for children and families on the Canuck Place program
Camps - A camping experience provides an opportunity to explore the world in new ways, meet people and engage in fun activities that build confidence and give enjoyment.
Children and teenagers at Canuck Place experience camp life at the fully accessible Easter Seal Camp. The camp located in Squamish, BC [45 kilometres north of Vancouver] in a peaceful wilderness setting at the foot of Mount Garibaldi.
Typical camp activities include wheelchair soccer, swimming, basketball, road hockey, arts and crafts, movie nights, campfire sing-a-longs and roasting marshmallows, and a variety of fun and inclusive games.
Two camps are organized each year: Kid's Camp is held in the fall, and Teen Camp takes place during spring break.
Also each summer, the Canuck Place recreation program hits the road to various areas of the province for "Summer in The City"
Summer in The City – a community outreach program is held during two to three days in the Central Okanagan (Kelowna) and on Vancouver Island (Victoria), and throughout the summer in Vancouver.
Families are invited to participate in a variety of adaptable and accessible activities and attractions in their home town (or a more centrally local community). Through Summer in The City activities, children have the opportunity to explore recreational opportunities locally, while also meeting fellow Canuck Place families.
The camps and recreational outings are staffed with nurses, trained volunteers and Canuck Place's Recreation Therapist
