New Water Feature added to the Garden

Thanks to the generosity of Spectra Energy, Endless Rain, Northwest Landscape Supply, and Aquascape Inc., a new pondless waterfall feature was added to the garden of Canuck Place.

The water feature further enhances the tranquility of the gardens by providing the visual stimulation of falling water and the soothing sounds of a small stream. The new site also has two new benches to allow families a place for peaceful reflection.

Annual Family BBQ

Saturday, August 29th saw over 200 children and family members attend the annual Canuck Place Family Barbeque.

Held on the grounds of the Hospice, this year’s theme was ‘Carnivale’ – a celebration of food, music and activities. Various ‘passport’ locations were set up to encourage participants to try their hand at a variety of activities such as making hats and masks.

Along with the excellent food, highlights were the Taffy Table, Tie-Dye Shirts, Duck Pond, and the live musical band playing Salsa & Meringue.

Now in its 12th year, the Family BBQ provides families the opportunity to connect, or re-connect, with each other and with the Hospice.

Thank you to the generous sponsors and volunteers who made the day possible – especially the Westin Bayshore Vancouver, Starbucks Coffee (Kerrisdale), Canadian Maple Delights, TAC Mobility, Southside Foods, Superior Produce, Seven Seas Seafood, and HY Louie.

Kids helping Kids

Although Brendan doesn't know anyone who has ever had to use Canuck Place's services he became inspired to help while watching the Canucks for Kids Telethon. Inspired by the heartwarming stories of children raising money for Canuck Place Brendan decided to use his birthday as the catalyst to raise over $300 from his friends and families.

The Kids 4 Kids teaches youth valuable lessons about social responsibility and citizenship while supporting children with life threatening illnesses and their families throughout British Columbia.
