Anar Popatia, 2nd Vice Chair
Anar is a partner in a family wealth management practice with Assante Wealth Management. Since joining the practice in 2002, Anar has built a strong rapport with clients and infuses all of her projects with enthusiasm. She plays an integral role in client relations and business development.
Over her 15 year career with Dun & Bradstreet, a global leader in business information solutions, Anar received recognition for her contributions to a broad range of industries in Western Canada which earned her numerous Presidential Citations and Sales and Service Excellence Awards. She also played a vital role in an international family-owned wholesale and manufacturing business, working with stakeholders in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Anar has served on numerous boards in health, education, community and government. She is president of the Canadian Club of Vancouver, a non-partisan organization dedicated to the celebration and promotion of Canadian identity and diversity. She also holds appointments to the Multicultural Advisory Council of British Columbia and to the Board of Directors of Impact BC and the Burrard Inlet Fireworks Society. She served as Chair of the Gastrointestinal Society, and as President of the Canadian Society of Intestinal Research. Anar has also held a seat on the Board of Governors at Meadowridge School; Vice Convenor of The Aga Khan Foundation World Partnership Walk; and Member of the Aga Khan Economic Planning Board for Canada.
Honoured as Canada’s Top 25 Immigrants for 2013 for leadership in community engagement, Anar takes social responsibility to heart. Most important to her is the ability to reach out to those who are less fortunate and to inspire youth to be the best they can be. She serves as Chair of her daughter Antalya’s Warming Hearts Foundation, which supports local and global causes — homelessness, poverty alleviation, youth leadership development and anti-bullying.
Anar holds a Bachelor of Business & Economics from Brock University, attended the law program at the University of London, and graduated from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania’s Executive Development Program. She is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto’s Not-For-Profit Governance Essentials Program and the Directors Education Program.
Anar is dedicated to lending her leadership to the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors to enrich and transform organizations and the lives of their beneficiaries.
