Volunteer Orientation Webinar

Please review the volunteer schedule and orientation package and let Courtenay know if you have any questions you have about your role. Please note that this information may change in the lead up to and even during the event. We appreciate your flexibility!

CAPTAINS: We have reached out to volunteers we have identified as captains to provide you with the information you need to train your volunteers. Captains are required to provide a short tour and orientation to their volunteers at the event so please be sure to arrive by 3:45pm for a tour of the venue before your teams arrive.

ARRIVAL TIME & FOODThe volunteer room will open at 3:45pm and dinner will be served at 4:30pm so please be sure to arrive with enough time to eat and meet your captain before your shift.

SCHEDULE CHANGES: The schedule is a bit of a fluid document at this time and we may have to make some changes up to the last minute. We are doing our best to accommodate everyone’s preferences and will be updating you on any changes that may affect you. Thank you for being flexible and accommodating.

ROLES: General role descriptions can be found in the volunteer orientation package. More detailed information will be available at the orientation and on this webpage shortly so check back soon!

DRESS CODE: Please wear all black and “gussy up”!  Comfortable shoes are a must as you will be on your feet for most of the evening. The event is also taking place in an arena so it may be chilly. Be sure to bring appropriate black layers to keep you warm.

PARKING: There is limited free parking at the arena in lot 2a, which is accessed off of College Drive. See the volunteer orientation package for a map of where to park and enter the building.

SHUTTLE FROM VANCOUVER: If there is enough interest. a shuttle may be arranged to the event from the Vancouver hospice to the event in Abbotsford. If you are interested in getting a ride on the shuttle, please email Alex at [email protected] by February 9. UPDATE: Due to lack of interest, there will be NO shuttle from Vancouver to the event in Abbotsford.

SECURITY:  There will be someone in the Volunteer Room at all times, so valuables will be safe.

ALCOHOL: Volunteers are not permitted to drink alcohol at the Gift of Love.

This event would not happen without all of you. On behalf of the children and families on our program: THANK YOU AND HAVE FUN!

If you have any questions in advance of the orientation or event, please don’t hesitate to contact Courtenay at [email protected].
