“To us the children of Canuck Place exemplify the triumph of the human spirit. The opportunity to capture this in portraiture was a joy and privilege.”
Canuck Place Children’s Hospice partnered with The Collective You to produce photos of Canuck Place children and siblings, displaying their inner and outer beauty.
Each photo is accompanied by four key words Canuck Place parents chose to describe their children.

Learn to Practice Self Love
Canuck Place counsellor, Susan Poitras shares tips you can use to practice loving who you are.
Self love is about knowing and honoring your needs, wants and wishes. It is about understanding your inner world, including your thoughts and feelings. The person in life that you will always be with the most, is yourself.
It is your decision and responsibility to be that person you want to be with. Make it your intention to spend your life with a person who knows how to let things go, who is not full of hate, who is able to smile, be grateful, and appreciate life’s gifts.
The Canuck Place Prescription for Self Love:
- Choose what you need rather than what you want
- Tame your inner critic
- Do things that you enjoy
- Write yourself a love note
- Set boundaries
- Live your dream
- Forgive yourself
- Live with intention
“To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.” – Thich Nhat Han
