Creative LEGO Challenge Raises Funds and Fun for Kids of All Ages

ABBOTSFORD, BC – September 15, 2014 – The 4th Annual Creative Challenge for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice (CPCH) took place Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre in Abbotsford, BC. The event saw businesses from around the Fraser Valley showcase their creativity and philanthropic spirit by building LEGO sculptures and donating to CPCH.
Corporate LEGO creations were judged by Sevenoaks shoppers and celebrity judges including Mayor Bruce Banman, Councillor Les Barkman, Country 107FM morning show host, Chris Coburn and LEGO Certified Professional, Robin Sather. All proceeds from the Creative Challenge went to support Canuck Place – Dave Lede House in Abbotsford.
New to this year’s event was the addition of a Kids Build competition which saw over 40 kid-built LEGO creations dropped off at the shopping centre. The winning entry by Kai, age 9, won a $50 gift card from Sevenoaks Shopping Centre.
“We were thrilled to see Sevenoaks Shopping Centre and the Fraser Valley business community team up for this fabulous fundraiser for Canuck Place,” said Margaret McNeil, CEO of CPCH. “Our second provincial pediatric hospice, Dave Lede House, is now operating community services in phase two of a four-phase opening plan. Canuck Place is grateful for the continued support from the community make clinical care possible for over 560 children with life-threatening illnesses and the families who love them.”
LEGO Certified Professional, Robin Sather of Brickville DesignWorks, constructed an incredible Orca sculpture over the two day event. And families who dropped by were able to make and take their own custom LEGO Orca for a $5 donation – custom designed by Robin.
