In 2009, Canuck Place recognized that the organization was only reaching 20-25% of BC children and families who needed pediatric palliative care. Armed with passion, expertise, and a team of community partners and individuals, Canuck Place embarked on a quest to open a second hospice in the Fraser Valley where over 45% of the children in the province live. In 2014, Dave Lede House (DLH) in Abbotsford became Canuck Place’s second provincial location, providing pediatric palliative care for children in the Fraser Health region and from across the province.
