Building Courage One Month at a Time
January 27, 2016
As a teacher of deaf and hearing-impaired children, Lynn Vail’s heart has always been open to the needs of children and their families. After reading an article in The Vancouver Sun about the opening of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, Lynn decided that it was a wonderful charity to support. And so she did, once or twice a year.
In 1999, Lynn decided to donate $10 a month to five of her favourite charities. Canuck Place was one of them. “I realized that giving monthly was a better way to support the charities as that gave them consistency to rely on and the money was better used. Over the years I have increased my monthly giving to my original five charities. The fact that children and their families are benefiting makes it all worthwhile.”
When the plan to open a second provincial Canuck Place location in Abbotsford was announced, Lynn was thrilled. “It was another hospice to help children and their families. I was happy to be a small part of this giving community.”
After 43 years of working, Lynn has retired and she is very much looking forward to continuing to help children and families as best she can. “I have even included Canuck Place in my will.”
Thank you, Lynn, for your gift from the heart!
