About the project

Discussing serious illness is difficult for our patients, their family, and health care providers. Nadine Lusney, Camara van Breeman and Dr. Siden have worked with the serious illness conversation template for adults provided by Adriadne Labs to adapt its use for conversations with children and their families. The goal of this research project is to provide better-advanced care planning for patients and families as well as to improve clinician confidence while having difficult conversations.

Main research questions

1. Does the pediatric template impact a pediatric clinician’s skill and confidence in leading difficult conversations with families of medically fragile children?
2. . To further validate the tool, what do clinicians identify as the most and least helpful aspects of the SICG-Peds in clinical practice?
